Mortal Shell II Skill Upgrades & Respec

Shell upgrades and a Shell reset are confirmed in the official post-launch notes. The earlier suggestion that per-Shell progression was merely speculative is outdated. This page explains how to review an investment; a complete branching skill-tree chart still needs verification.

Keep upgrade investments separate

Editorial checklist for reading upgrade and reset prompts.

  • Shell progression

    Record the upgrade, prerequisite and resource. The confirmed Shell reset refunds spent Glimpses.

  • Weapon investment

    Record its own resource and effect. Do not assume a Shell reset reverses a weapon purchase.

  • Tarstone upgrades

    Track these separately and inspect the relevant upgrade screen before spending.

Separate the Upgrade Systems

The August 29 update made Glimpses and Tarcores renewable, allowing Shells and Tarstones to be fully upgraded in one playthrough. This economy change does not make every investment part of the same refund system.

Before buying an upgrade, record its resource, prerequisite and described effect from the in-game screen. Keep Shell progression, weapon investment and Tarstone upgrades separate in your notes. Check which system a reset prompt names before accepting it.

Can You Respec a Shell?

Yes. The Mether's Severance guide covers the official reset procedure, refund wording and later interaction fixes. Read it before spending a reset item; avoid assuming that a Shell reset also reverses every weapon or Tarstone purchase.

Check the Ability Before Reinvesting

Start with the current Genessa and Sariel ability changes, then use the build comparison checklist to test your intended setup. Patch notes can establish that an upgrade exists or was changed, but they are not a substitute for its full tooltip.

Not yet verified: Exact node layouts, every prerequisite and full upgrade-cost tables have not been verified for this guide. We are not publishing a skill-point farming route or a complete tree from trailer footage alone.
