Mortal Shell II Respec: Mether's Severance

Yes, you can reset a Shell. Mether's Severance severs its bond and refunds the spent Glimpses. The official method was added on August 29; later updates expanded trainer support and fixed reset interactions.

The confirmed Shell reset path

  1. Visit Merrick

    Check his current inventory for Mether’s Severance. Restocking is occasional as you progress.

  2. Get Mether’s Severance

    The item severs a Shell’s bond; no fixed price or stock timer is verified here.

  3. Give it to Zhirelle

    The August 29 method names Zhirelle, the Shell keeper. Check the Shell selected in the prompt.

  4. Recover spent Glimpses

    The confirmed refund applies to Glimpses spent on the reset Shell.

Get the Item and Choose the Shell

Merrick sells Mether's Severance, with occasional restocking as you progress. Give it to Zhirelle, the Shell keeper, to reset a Shell and recover its spent Glimpses. These details come from the August 29 update.

Before confirming, record the current upgrades and inspect the Shell selected in the reset prompt. Compare the prompt with the replacement setup you planned. The notes do not give a stock-refresh timer, price or verified map route, so use the shop's current inventory rather than assuming a fixed restock interval.

Genessa Trainer Support

The September 14 hotfix also enabled Mether's Severance at the Genessa trainer. If an older walkthrough lists only Zhirelle, check your installed update before treating that as the only option.

Reset Interaction Problems

September 24 addressed a gamepad cancellation softlock and Stray Genessa becoming unresponsive after a reset. See the official hotfix. If either symptom persists, note the version, input device and steps that led to it when reporting the problem.

Not yet verified: The confirmed refund is spent Glimpses for the reset Shell. These notes do not establish refunds for every Shell Point, weapon upgrade, Tarcore or other resource. Do not plan those refunds without checking the in-game prompt or further evidence.
